Best Places with Air Conditioning to Spend the Summer in Pennsylvania

Read Time:2 Minute, 34 Second

With temperatures that soar in the summer, many people in Pennsylvania look for ways to stay cool. Staying in air-conditioned venues and drinking enough water is essential if you want to avoid dehydration. Even if you have air conditioning at home, the walls will start to close in on you after a while. Heat waves can go on for days or weeks. There are many venues in Pennsylvania that have air conditioning. They allow you to keep cool and have fun at the same time.

Casinos

Casinos provide the perfect place to relax and enjoy playing games in an air-conditioned space. Parx Casino in Bensalem is only 20 minutes from the center of Philly. A visit there can offer cool relief on a hot summer’s day and plenty of distraction from the heat. It’s an impressive gaming complex with over 3,000 slot machines, 180 table games, and a premier poker room. You can also enjoy various dining options, bars, and live entertainment.

Parx also has a Pennsylvania online casino for those who would rather gamble from the comfort of their air-conditioned homes. They can download the user-friendly betPARX app and play a wide variety of games using their mobile phones.

Museums

Museums are usually air-conditioned and provide a welcome escape from the heat. The whole family will enjoy a visit to the Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia. The lower level of the museum has nearly an entire floor called the Revolution Space. It is dedicated to engaging and immersive multimedia experiences. The space is large and cool allowing kids to expend energy without overheating. They can explore a military camp, dress up, and even enlist as soldiers using a digital touch screen and quill pen.

Free public libraries

Libraries are a great venue during a heat wave. You can cool down and catch up on some reading at the same time. In the heat wave in 2022, libraries served as cooling centers and offered extended hours with free AC and free internet access.

The main branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia or Parkway Central Library is in an imposing building on Logan Square’s north side. There are vast reading rooms and a contemporary lounge and reading room in the rear. You can spread out and conduct research or work remotely.

Ice rinks

If you can’t visit an island and enjoy balmy temperatures and cool cocktails, one of the best places to visit in a heat wave is an ice rink. Simon’s Recreation Center in Philly is one of the few places open for year-round indoor ice-skating fun. The center helps underserved youth and offers after-school activities. As they are community-based, entrance is free.

Movie theaters

One of the best ways to enjoy summer in a heat wave is to watch a movie at an air-conditioned movie theater. The PFS Bourse Theater shows mainly art houses and critically acclaimed indie films. It is situated in Old City Philadelphia.
